Prove Them Wrong
I know that some of you will read this post understanding the point that I'm trying to make without judgement. I also know that some of you will read this post judging the person I'm writing about.......NICKI MINAJ!!
Some of you may be wondering why I'm writing a post about Nicki Minaj, but trust me at the end of this post it will all come together. Nicki Minaj is one of the BIGGEST entertainers in the world today. She has sold millions of records, became a brand, and has made plenty of money while accomplishing her goals. But like most successful people she didn't start out that way in the beginning. She was a struggling unknown superstar with immense hunger to be great at what she does. Of course, she started in small club, and released mixtapes to get her name out to the public. Actually, when I go back to look at some of her old videos from 2007 or 2008 I can see the growth compared to the multi-millionaire Nicki Minaj. I even remember coming across a freestyle she did during an interview at the beginning of her career, and I have to be honest and say that it was terrible.

I remember when I first got a chance to see who this Nicki Minaj chic was that everybody was raving about, I immediately said, "She won't last long". I thought this another person coming on the scene swearing they were the best, and would hit it BIG one day. My classmate actually brought in a magazine during music class that featured Nicki Minaj, and her come up. He and other classmates were was all excited about this new chic on the scene, which I didn't allow myself to buy into the hype, because half of the time the hype fades quickly. Itty Bitty Piggy was the song poppin at that time, and most of younger teens fell in love with it. Listen, If only y'all knew how convinced I was on how quickly Nicki Minaj would fade........I WAS WRONG!!! She has gone from performing in small clubs to headlining her own tour in arenas. She has been ranked one of the highest paid hip-hop artist in the entertainment industry in forbes. The girl basically is a BRAND. Even if you don't know any of her music, you know her name.

The funny thing is I'm listening to her music now as I'm writing this post. I must be honest and say she has proved me wrong 10x's over. According to Wikipedia, Minaj got her start with mixtapes back in 2007. It is now the year 2016, and she is still doing it with vengeance. I've even used my hard earn money to buy her music.....LOL!! Keep in mind that this is the same girl I was dissing back in high school. I literally had to go back and eat my own words, and just admit that she proved me wrong, and I'm sure she proved others too. It's a constant reminder that dreams do come true with hard work and consistency.

I say all of this to say that you can't give up just because people don't believe in you, or understand your vision. No successful person has ever woke up one day with success sitting on their lap. You have to be willing and able to endure the pain, and the negative feed back you will get from people. You have to be willing to fight for what it is you want, and become almost obsessed with your dreams. I once heard Tyler Perry say, All you need is one yes", which I agree with. You don't have to like her music, or the performances she chooses to put on for her audience, but you can't deny the fact that she has become extremely successful. What if Nicki Minaj gave up whenever she spit a freestyle and they gave her the big NO? I'm not trying to bash her beginnings, but I'm just trying to show you that you have to be willing to start from the bottom and work your way to the top. And that my friend is what NICKI MINAJ has done.
